Q: What is Clean Sweep?
A: As the name implies, "Clean Sweep" is a community-based project to promote civic pride. Put forth by the Enfield Beautification Committee, Clean Sweep asks Enfield residents to take one day to clean up their local parts of town and any other areas identified as "hot spots."
Q: How does it work?
A: When you sign up, you become registered as someone who is willing to volunteer for Clean Sweep. As the date approaches, you will be contacted by a Clean Sweep official and told where to meet and at what time.
Q: How long do you need me?
A: We expect most teams to finish up by noon.
Q: What do I need for supplies?
A: Your captain will supply you with bags. We recommend you bring gloves but it is optional. This effort will not involve raking or 'sweeping' so just bring good shoes and your hands!
Q: In prior years, the Clean Sweep project just had people meet at certain designated areas. Is that how we're doing it this year?
A: No. While we repect and acknowledge the good work past coordinators did in the logistics for this project, we are doing it a bit differently this time. We are asking Enfield residents to direct the project by coming up with parts of town that need attention. These "hot spots" will be gathered and a game plan drawn up to divide the volunteer base among the areas.
Q: Will there be free T-shirts?
A: Yes. We are planning on having a set number of shirts. We will distribute the shirts to each team captain.
Q: Who is my team captain?
A: We are in the process of assigning the team captains. You will be told who your captain is when we contact you.
Q: What do we do when we're done?
A: A small thank you BBQ will be held on the town green.
Q: My neighbor has trash all over his/her lawn. Can I nominate their property for a hot spot?
A: For liability purposes, the Clean Sweep project is limited to public areas (medians, side walks, tree belts, some parking lots, ball parks, and other public parcels). That isn't to say you can't spend some time cleaning up your own yard though and you never know--maybe your neighbor will see everyone outside and get inspired!
